Alex Morgan said the equal pay offer made by US Soccer for the men’s and women’s teams might not be “good enough” if it means they don’t feel they’re getting what they deserve.

Morgan has been one of the most vocal equal pay players for the U.S. women’s team, along with Megan Rapinoe.

“As a players’ association, we have yet to discuss the statement made by US Soccer, but any public commitment to equal pay is good.

“However, we have to look line by line at what they actually deliver, because if you have equality but it’s not even what we got before, or the value that we are, then we still consider it is not good enough.

“We will continue to work with US Soccer to move forward towards equal and fair payment and treatment.”

“Our collective agreement expires at the end of this year, so we are in active negotiations right now. We don’t want to start the new year without a new collective agreement in effect, so this is our # 1 priority. PA, from our legal team.

“Looking at the statements, it’s hard to say. We want to feel encouraged and we want to be optimistic, but we’ve seen a lot of statements already.

“What we really want to do is see what we can do at the negotiating table, see these statements implemented in these negotiations.

“Of course, we still have hope, you must continue to have hope.

“We are seeing great things in the world, I think more recently Ireland have accepted equal pay for their men’s and women’s teams so I think we are moving in the right direction.”

These are positive steps for the women’s team but it remains to be seen what will happen to them.
