Miss Trans Global Unveils Gender Sensitivity Mural | Kochi News

The murals became a means to achieve two goals. Not only does it make a space more interesting, but it’s also a great attention-grabber to get an important message across. Rise Forum, an NGO dedicated to gender, health and environmental issues, among others, had these goals in mind when it recently completed a mural art project in Fort Kochi. Their idea was to convey the message of gender injustice in society.
The program was inaugurated by Sruthi Sithara, who is the winner of Miss Trans Global 2021, by placing the first handprint in the “community tree” which the organization represented to convey a message that every action enterprise against gender inequality must be collective, followed by volunteers and the public present at the event.
Rise Forum portrayed the ideas of inclusivity, collectivity and sustainability through four colorful murals. Vishnavi, Queer Support and Diversity Manager at the Rise Up Forum, said: “Every survivor walking by and looking at the wall will believe that the space around them is safe and understanding. Every child or individual asking a question about the paintings on the wall would be the greatest achievement because every change starts with questioning, learning and educating people.”
