LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A former web engineer at Sony Electronics Inc. has dropped her lawsuit against her ex-employer in which she alleged she was fired in 2018 in retaliation for refusing sexual advances from her colleagues and complaining about the hostile. work environment and harassment.

Lawyers for 36-year-old Jennifer Pochue filed court documents with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Holly J. Fujie on March 26 asking for the plaintiff’s case to be dismissed. The papers did not indicate whether a settlement had been reached or whether Pochue was not pursuing the case for other reasons.

Pochue sued several Sony entities in March 2020 and his lawsuit allegations included sexual harassment and discrimination, retaliation, failure to prevent sexual harassment and discrimination, and wrongful dismissal.

In their court documents, Sony lawyers called Pochue’s trial “ filled with allegations, but devoid of specifics. ”

Sony hired Pochue in November 2015 as a QA engineering analyst for Sony’s Marina del Rey office after moving from New York, where she forwarded a lucrative offer for a position there to accept the Sony post, depending on the suit.

Pochue was the only female on her team and her supervisors, managers and other employees repeatedly harassed her because of her gender, conduct that included unwanted advances from male members of her team, said the suit.

“ Undoubtedly friendly at first, Sony’s advances quickly turned into a highly inappropriate, romantic and sexual nature, ” according to the costume.

Pochue’s male colleagues pressed the Asian-American complainant about her personal life and repeatedly asked her if she was interested in dating Asian men, the suit said.

At a screening of a ‘Star Wars’ movie for Sony employees, a male colleague pushed his way into the seat next to Pochue and asked,’ I like the look of your neck … when can I take you out? the costume declared.

The same coworker knew Pochue had arrived at work early and where she was parking her car, so he put her car next to its usual location and waited for her to arrive in the morning, the costume says. The coworker also called her his “ bitch, ” according to the costume.

Pochue complained to Sony’s human resources department, but instead of helping her, a manager told her, “ It’s okay for people to have an inter-departmental relationship at Sony, ” the suit said.

Another male colleague has made several unsuccessful advances to Pochue, the suit says. At a work-related lunch in mid-2017, he pulled his eyelids up so they were tilted and told the complainant, ‘Listen guys, I’m Asian,’ the costume said.

Pochue again complained to the human resources manager of the alleged harassment, but the manager told her to stay “ silent ” to avoid disturbing members of the small department in which the complainant worked, according to the lawsuit.

Sensing that she was alone and that Sony management would not help her thwart the alleged advances, Pochue began telling male colleagues that she accused of harassing her that she was only interested in women, the lawsuit said.

However, her efforts only encouraged the male members of her team to include her in conversations about their sex lives and the different Asian women they dated and their sexual performances, the costume said.

Citing another example of alleged harassment, the lawsuit says a Sony manager often asked Pochue “ inappropriate and degrading questions ” about her bisexuality, including the frequency and type of sex she had. with women.

The alleged stalkers continued to bother Pochue via text and Skype even while she was on leave in 2017 to recover from back surgery and care for her ailing mother, the costume said.

The lawsuit further alleges that Sony management hacked into her cloud drive and obtained intimate photos of her, then accused her of putting the images on her work laptop, according to the lawsuit.

“ Then Sony used the private documents to tag (Pochue) a slut in a misguided effort to discredit her complaints of sexual harassment and gender discrimination, ” the lawsuit alleged.

Sony management accused Pochue on the same day in June 2018 of promising to investigate his harassment allegations, according to the lawsuit.

Sony management fired Pochue a month later after telling him that having intimate photos on his work computer violated company policy, the lawsuit said.
