Florida man attacks jogger with sword on wheelbarrow left in garbage pile: police
The jogger was running in Oakland Park on July 15 when he came across a pile of loose trash on the side of the street at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. mentionned.
In the pile, he spotted a black cart and decided to take it home, apparently upsetting the other man who thought he had the first rights to the trash. The two “words exchanged” but the jogger quickly ran with the find to his home, police said.
He then realized that the man had followed him carrying a thin red object.
Home surveillance footage showed the man removing a sword from a red sheath and swinging on the jogger. The two argued for the cart as the jogger dodged the sword. The man left empty-handed when the jogger told him a security camera was recording them, police said.
The jogger, who later identified himself as Todd Beavers, said WSVN-TV he was “shocked” that the man tried to kill him on a cart.
“When he took out the sword, I thought, ‘What am I doing?’ I was like, “Is he really going to do this?” Beavers, who was not injured, told the station.
Beavers left the cart sitting in the front yard immediately after the incident, police said. Minutes later, a woman who apparently knew the suspect, according to detectives, dragged the cart while hurling insults at Beavers.
The police were looking for both the man with the sword and the woman.
