Farmington man accused of hitting his mother on the head with a shovel


A Farmington man faces up to seven years in prison after allegedly hitting his mother on the head with a shovel.

Prosecutors say Thomas Leighton, 32, caused a laceration when he hit his mother on December 27 in Farmington.

Leighton’s last known address is on Knotty Knoll Circle, according to court documents.

Leighton is charged with second degree assault and could be fined up to $ 4,000 in addition to being sentenced to jail if convicted.

Leighton was indicted by a grand jury in Strafford County Superior Court in Dover on September 16.
