CFL ALERT: Email, call or fax your representatives today and ask them to oppose Senate Resolution 408. This resolution supports Israel’s racist apartheid wall and condemns the ICJ and UN for their positions against the wall. The Senate is likely to vote on this resolution before it adjourns for its summer recess this Friday, your immediate action is critical.

TALKING POINTS
* On July 20, the United Nations General Assembly voted 150 to 6 with 10 abstentions to demand that Israel comply with the ICJ advisory opinion to dismantle its illegal wall in the West Bank. The only countries voting no were the United States, Israel, Australia, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau. The United States must work with the international community to implement a just and lasting peace based on human rights and international law. Ask your Senators how Americans benefit from allowing Israel to flout international law and continue to oppress murder and terrorize a civilian population. Demand that they support responsible and fair U.S. foreign policies. Ask your representatives to stop undermining the work of United Nations and the International Court of Justice. Remind them that this country waged war on Iraq supposedly because that country refused to comply with UN Resolutions, yet Israel stands in defiance of over 60 UN Resolutions while this government assists them in violating international law.

*Tell your Senators that this resolution is one-sided and unproductive; it mentions Israeli civilian causalities but fails to mention that over three times as many Palestinian civilians have been killed. Tell your Senators that Israeli security concerns do not trump Palestinian human rights. Israel has the right to protect its citizens but Israeli security measures must conform to international law.
