CFL ALERT: ARAB-AMERICANS AND ALL PEOPLE OF CONSCIENCE CANNOT SUPPORT THE
DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES.
BIPARTISAN SUPPORT OF ISRAELI CRIMES SUCH AS THE CONTINUED THEFT OF
PALESTINIAN LAND AND EXTRA JUDICIAL ASSASSINATIONS RULE OUT ARAB-AMERICAN AND
MUSLIM SUPPORT FOR EITHER PARTY IN NOVEMBER.
TALKING POINTS
*On 3/14/04 President Bush destroyed the credibility of American foreign
policy by declaring that Israel could keep chunks of stolen land in the
illegally occupied West Bank and by dismissing the Palestinian right of
return. The U.S. has consistently cited various UN resolutions as a pretext
for waging war against Iraq, yet once again this country has affirmed that
Israel need not abide by international law or UN resolutions. Even more
outrageous is the fact that this administration did not speak with the
Palestinians before making decisions relating to their national aspirations.
*Tell your Democratic representatives that you expected them to oppose this
extremist shift in U.S. policy, and that you were shocked that Democratic
candidate John Kerry seized this shift as an opportunity to stress his
pro-Israel voting record. Kerry said, "I have a 100 percent record -- not a
99, a 100 percent record of sustaining the special relationship and friendship
that we have with Israel," he said at a fund-raiser in Juno Beach. Tell them
that it is not a badge of honor to support Israeli crimes against Palestinian
men, women and children. Kerry also said that he supported the president's new
position that Israel should be allowed to keep land it stole from the
Palestinians in the illegally occupied West Bank. Tell your representatives
that you cannot support this extremist and racist ideology from the Democratic
Party.
*Tell your representatives that because neither the Democratic nor Republican
parties will support a fair and just peace in the Middle East and because both
parties continue to bend over backwards for Israeli pro-Apartheid lobby
groups, that you will stand united in November against all politicians who
view the Palestinian people as an expendable commodity whose fate can be
violated as long as it means more votes come election time. It is inexcusable
for any candidate to back away from supporting basic human dignity and rights
for an entire nation merely because it will mean more votes for them at
election time.
*Remind your representatives that it is unethical for them to demand that
Palestinians end their resistance against a cruel and criminal occupation and
at the same time support and sanction violent Israeli crimes against
Palestinians, such as the extra judicial assassinations of Sheik Ahmed Yassin
and Abdel Aziz Rantisi. The assassination of Palestinians has been condemned
by the entire world with the exception of American politicians who allow
themselves to become corrupted by pro-Zionist interest groups as long as those
groups continue to bribe them with money and votes.
