CFL ALERT: MORE DOUBLE STANDARDS AS U.S. THREATENS TO IMPOSE SANCTIONS ON
SYRIA AND LEBANON OVER "SYRIAN OCCUPATION OF LEBANON
TALKING POINTS
*The current rhetoric coming out of Washington is demanding that Syria end its
"occupation" of Lebanon. However, not a single word is being said about the
decades-long illegal and immoral occupation of the Palestinian people.
*Impending sanctions against Syria are indicative of the racist double
standards in Washington against Arabs and Muslims. Tell your representatives
that you support immediate diplomatic and economic sanctions against Israel
for its repeated flouting of international law and U.N. resolutions. Tell your
representatives that imposing sanctions against Syria while rewarding Israeli
intransigence does not promote our interests in the Middle East and only works
to strengthen the argument that a U.S./Israeli plan to redevelop the Middle
East is being played out.
*Ask your elected officials why very few have spoken out against the recent
incursions into Gaza, which have left hundreds of Palestinians dead, thousands
wounded and even more homeless. There has not been a single condemnation by
this government over the cold blooded murder of Iman Hamss, a 13 year-old
schoolgirl who was murdered in cold blood by an Israeli soldier who emptied a
full clip of ammunition into her body. Ask your representatives to explain
these double standards, ask why they place such little value on the lives of
Palestinian children and how they can look the other way while Israel
continues its wanton massacre of innocent Palestinian civilians.
