CFL ALERT: ASK YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO REJECT BILL THAT CONTAINS ANTI-PALESTINIAN LANGUAGE.

On 1/26/05, Wisconsin Congressman James Sensenbrenner introduced H.R.418, the REAL ID Act to the House. Included in this immigration
bill was a provision that would ban entry to any representative or spokesperson of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) into the US and would label anyone involved with the PLO to be engaged in "terrorist activity." If you live in Rep. Sensenbrenner's district please call him immediately and identify yourself as his constituent and express your alarm over his proposed legislation. If you do not live in his district please send our prewritten letter to your representatives asking them not to support this racist legislation.

*Contact Congress, the State Department and the White House to ask that language be removed from HR 418, the REAL ID Act, which designates the PLO as a terrorist entity and prohibits entry of PLO
representatives or spokespersons to the United States.

*Tell your representatives that you think HR 418 is an attempt by Rep. Sensenbrenner to stall the Mideast peace process and to continue the
dehumanization of the entire Palestinian nation by denying any of their representatives, including their democratically elected Prime Minister entry into this country.

*Tell your representatives that you are disturbed at the covert manner in which Rep. Sensenbrenner is attempting to pass this legislation, by burying it in an unrelated immigration bill and that you expect them to speak out against this.

*Tell your representatives that passage of H.R.418 with it's anti Palestinian language will prove to the world that no matter what actions the Palestinians take that this country will not ever be willing to support them in their aspirations for statehood. Ask your representative to do what they can to expose the hatred and racism against Palestinians that reigns at the highest levels of the of the
American government and are attempting to block the road to peace.
