CFL ALERT: PROTEST THE ONE-SIDED RESOLUTION TO BE DEBATED IN THE HOUSE TOMORROW!

On Wednesday, June 25, the House of Representatives is scheduled to take up a newly-introduced resolution by Rep. Tom Lantos (D CA-12). The resolution is being taken up
under "suspension," meaning that the normal committee process was bypassed and the House Leadership allowed it to go directly to the Floor of the House. Resolutions taken up under "suspension" cannot be amended and need
a 2/3 majority to pass. The resolution has not yet received a number and the full text is not yet available. In part, the resolution reads as follows:

"Condemning the terrorism inflicted on Israel since the Aqaba summit, expressing solidarity with the Israeli people, and calling on the Palestinian Authority to take immediate and effective steps to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure on the West Bank and Gaza."

IT IS VITAL TO CALL, EMAIL AND FAX YOUR REPS TODAY AND URGE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THIS
RESOLUTION. REMIND THEM THAT HOW THEY VOTE ON THIS RESOLUTION WILL AFFECT HOW YOU VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTIONS.

TALKING POINTS:

*This resolution is biased and one-sided because it fails to mention violence directed against the Palestinians by Israel's military occupation. This
resolution is not productive for advancing efforts toward peace between Israelis and Palestinians

*Since the Aqaba summit, 55 Palestinians have been killed and 258 have been injured. Any Congressional resolution discussing violence
in the Middle East should express sympathy for the loss of life on both sides of the conflict.

*If the United States is to be an "honest broker"
then it should express solidarity with both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples who are victims of
violence.
