CFL ALERT: Over 557 Palestinian Children Killed by Israeli Occupation Forces
A report issued yesterday by the Palestinian National Information Center (PNIC)
reported that 557 Palestinian children have been killed by the Israeli Defense
Forces in the past three and a half years. Meanwhile the UN announced that it
will be forced to cut back food aid to 1.3 million Palestinians (many of whom
are children) in the Gaza Strip because of Israeli restrictions on UN aid to
the occupied land. Please contact the Bush administration and your
representatives and let them know that they must intervene and put an end to
the Israeli practice of murdering and starving Palestinian children.
TALKING POINTS:
*Tell your representatives that you feel this government shares responsibility
for the murder of 557 Palestinian children. These crimes against children
could not happen without tacit U.S. approval. As tax-time draws near, tell
your representatives that you do not want your hard earned tax dollars spent
on assisting Israeli war crimes against children.
*On 3/26/04 the United Nations announced that several of their aid agencies
will be forced to cut back or end humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip because
of Israeli restrictions on their movement into and out of the territory. This
will affect most of the 1.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. These
reductions in aid come despite a report released by Jean Ziegler, the U.N.
Human Rights Commission special rapporteur for the right to food, which states
that Palestinians living in the Israeli-occupied territories of Gaza and the
West Bank are on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. Nine percent of
Palestinian children under age 5 suffer from brain defects caused by
malnutrition because of the occupation. We must not sit idly by in silence as
Israel succeeds in committing genocide against the Palestinian people. Write
to your representative right now and demand a stop to this human tragedy.
